Brookings, SD -- Sharing with their employees and the Brookings community is a cornerstone of Larson Manufacturing culture. The company’s active United Way committee plans throughout the year in preparation for the fall campaign. This year, LARSON employees heeded the call when an unpredictable 2020 affected so many families in the community.
“The entire LARSON organization greatly values sharing of our time, talents and resources,” said Jeff Rief, President and CEO of LARSON Manufacturing. “It’s no surprise that the LARSON members showed their support again this year with over 80 percent participation. We were excited to see such an amazing level of generosity from the LARSON team to help support our local communities. It’s our time to stand united and share our resources.”
This year, LARSON Manufacturing employees raised $252,248. In 2017, LARSON set the quarter-of-a-million dollar standard giving over $1 million to the Brookings Area United Way in the four-year period.
Multiple times a year, the LARSON United Way Committee meets to discuss ways to raise money year-round. In addition to the community-wide pledge campaign in the fall, the committee organizes fundraising events. The events range from BINGO night at the VFW to meal fundraisers and raffles. COVID-19 restrictions required the team to innovate and meet remotely at times. New events, like the Big Splash Penny War, Super Square Board and United Way Yard Signs were introduced and met with great enthusiasm by the LARSON staff.
